 Conditional Sentence Tipe 0






conditional sentence ini ada beberapa jenis, penggunaannya tergantung pada fungsi kalimatnya. Pada dasarnya, conditional sentence terdiri dari 2 klausa, if clause dan main clause. Bentuk tenseskedua klausa ini bisa berubah berdasarkan jenis conditional sentence yang kamu pakai.

Conditional Tipe 0

Conditional sentence ini digunakan untuk menggambarkan fakta atau kebenaran umum yang sudah pasti. Misalnya, jika kamu memanaskan air, air itu akan mendidih. Sudah pasti terjadi bukan? 

Untuk conditional tipe ini, rumusnya adalah sebagai berikut: 

If + simple present tense, simple present tense

Contoh:

  • If you heat water, it boils. (Jika kamu memanaskan air, airnya akan mendidih.)
  • If you freeze water, it becomes ice. (Jika kamu membekukan air, airnya akan menjadi es.)
  • "if it rains, the grass gets wet"
  • "the grass gets wet if it rains"
    because, the grass will indeed get wet when exposed to rain is a well known fact

    "if you eat, you full"
    "you full if you eat"
    because, you will be full when you eat is a well known fact 

    "if you burn paper, it turns to ash" 
    "it turns to ash if you burn paper"
    because, when burning paper generally it will become ashes is a well known fact

    "if we tired, we rest"
    "we rest if we tired"
    because, because, it is better to rest if you are tired is a well known fact

    "if you heat, water boils"
    "water boils if you heat" 
    because, water will boil when heated

    "if I want to play, I help my parents first"
    "I help my parents first if I want to play"
    because, I help my parents first when I want to play 

    "if you get sick, go to doctor"
    "go to doctor if you get sick"
    because, because, it is better to go to doctor if you are sick is a well known fact

    "if you want to be my girlfriend, I will be happy"
    "I will be happy if you want to be my girlfriend"
    because, love make you happy


    Example Dialogue Type 0:
     
    Najwa: Ratna, I and Desti are going to play games after school. Do you want to join us?
    Ratna: I’m sorry. I have a math quiz next week and I have to study because the last material is very hard. I want to make sure I can do the quiz well.
    Najwa: Oh, I see. Don’t worry, Fino. If you study hard, you can get a good grade.
    Ratna: I hope so. Anyway where’s your chairmate?
    Najwa: He’s having lunch at the canteen. He goes to the canteen when it’s time to break.
    Ratna: Hahaha. I think he is always hungry.
